Silicon Tech Racing Set for Lime Rock Challenge

Los Altos, CA (May 23, 2011)- Having taken their top finish of the season just two weeks ago at Virginia International Raceway, Silicon Tech Racing heads out with renewed enthusiasm for this Monday’s Memorial Day Classic at Lime Rock Park, the sixth round of the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series.

A yearly tradition in sportscar racing, the Memorial Day Classic is one of the more famous events on the calendar, with the cars and stars of GRAND-AM taking to the extremely tight, 1.5-mile, seven-turn circuit on the Monday of the holiday weekend.

Following a rain soaked and thrilling event in Virginia, STR drivers Henri Richard and Brian Frisselle have finally begun to show their mettle in the no. 77 Freescale / Future Electronics / Quest Software / HP / Green Hills Software / SYNNEX / Doran Racing Dallara Ford. After enduring nearly an hour in the deluge, Richard managed to keep all four wheels on the track before handing over to Frisselle, who was actually set for a podium had the team’s strategy played out differently, eventually taking a season-best fifth.

Headed to Lime Rock, confidence is extremely high not only because of the team’s recent performance, but the circuit is also the site of Henri Richard’s first ever professional win last year. Driving a Porsche GT car in similarly tricky and wet conditions during the July round of the American Le Mans Series, Richard drove a smart and mistake-free race en route to his first ever victory, securing Lime Rock a permanent place in his heart.

With another packed house of clients and guests coming out to see the race, Richard, residing in Los Altos Hills, California, looks forward to another Lime Rock event.

“Lime Rock is a really special place for me,” stated Richard. “We managed to take a great victory last year thanks to some clever strategy and great teamwork, but it was a completely different car and series. Driving a prototype through a track this tight and tricky will really make for an exciting day. Patience and strategy are going to be the keys to this weekend’s event, but I know the Doran team can do it. We have numerous guests coming out this weekend and I really want to deliver the same sort of thrill they experienced last year, it should be a great event.”

The Memorial Day Classic will take place this coming Monday, May 30, airing at 2PM ET on SPEED.
